the other day the three male humans comprising attack+defend went to the shops, more specically to a bakery, and bought three buns to eat (one each). The bakershop man mentioned that a new band had reached number seventeen in the charts with their single garibaldi. "Wo that's us" one of us exclaimed, "hang on a minute there are only two hundred and fifty copies in existence in the world surely you need more than that these days?". To which the bakershopman (BSM) replied,"Well it's these bloody downloads isn't it? Killing the bakery game I tell you, people will just go online and download cakes off anyone willy-nilly but it's not the same I tell you, NOT THE SAME, you don't get the packaging to hold in your hand and file away, not to mention that the concept of downloading and eating a cake is dubious in the extreme". The bakershop man had become somewhat shaky and teary-eyed after his emotion-full outburst so attack+defend went over and hugged him.THE END

just got back from tour de campesinos, we had a fantastic time and would like to heartily thank team campesinos - thanks team campesinos! also thanks to all the people who came and jiggled about/watched, especially the young scamp who sat on the stage in brighton.

also, thanks to min and the team at aberystweth for another fun night at the seaside.

UPDATE 3 POST LAUNCH. Hello. here is a brief update on the launch......
we managed to get our mits on some balloons and let them go with a copy of the album. We were very relieved to see the balloons fly away upwards at pace rather than gently descending on to the A470 nearby...phew..... although having said that it could land on a road that is further away, hmm, yeah out of sight out of mind i suppose (cue ten sleepless nights). After the album was safely launched we had some tea and a baguette. NICK took some photos, cheers Nick. Some are below.

To celebrate our debut album, MAKE, coming out on monday we will be walking up a hill. All welcome - meet us outside Aquatic World on Monthermer Road, Cardiff (2pm Sat 7th Jul) if you want to come along. The album will be ceremoniously launched on a real live rocket (or a balloon if I can't get my mitts on a rocket - something will happen anyway). I'm not actually sure where the hill is at present, Mark does though, it's not far from Cardiff I know that much. I'll put some more info here tomorrow afternoon/eve (Friday 6th) EDIT: 6/7/7 still not sure - hopefully will know by tomorrow.... . UPDATE 7/7/7: The hill is called GARTH HILL and is just outside Cardiff --->

we (a+d in a way) played an unpugged gig at a well known inner city bar t'ther day (buffalo) in aid of kruger magazine. Neil from Los Camp joined us, cheers neil. It was a very low volume affair and featured a song made up only an HOUR before, can you imagine that?

Third up.

Good news. The artwork for 'make', the forthcoming a+d album has been finalised. Thanks to safari art for helping with/doing the artwork. There have been calls from some quarters (thirds) within a+d that say that the artwork should naat be previewed on this website at this time. Personnaly I can't decide, hmmmmm. I tell you what i'll wang the front cover on for good measure.



The official release is pencilled in for some time in July TBC. aka ONE DAY IT WILL BE RELEASED, BELEIVE ME PLEASE.

This is an update of the attack+defend website for the month of Ebrill. as you may or may not remember a+d recorded an album, make, about some time ago. The plan ATM is to release it soon, the finishing/starting touches are presently being done to the artwork. The honchos at shaperecords are letting us do a 6-page double gatefold digi-pack fingers crossed.

gigs - a+d played some gigs in wrecsam,manchester, aberystweth & newport lately all of which were completely 100%, ahem, faultless. Massive thanks to the various promotors. I am now going to go outside and take a photo and then put it on the internet.... probably of the nearest transformer....just because it's sunny and i should probably expose my face to some daylight else I'll just be a house toad all day, not that I need an excuse to go outside, you know i just go out whenever I want to..ABORT SENTENCE.



yes, what else can I talk about, oh yeah the fabled garibaldi 7", the bosses at shape seem quite happy with the way the units have been shifting but think we might be letting ourselves down in terms of internet social networking contact co-opting. In summary: yipee yoo yar.

As you can see other bands are playing (HECK and HORNBY PYLONS) also there will be video graphics in the sytle of gamesmaster series 2. Other things will also be there. attack+defend are very much looking forward to this night and are excited/trembling/vibing/salivating/etc at the mere thought of it.

1. FIDEO GARIBALDI

a+d are recording a fideo this weekend in cardiff. The video is to be directed by the Owain Paciuszko, nb. this a+d can't wait for his arrival in Cardiff,,ooooooo i feel like cesium must feel when it comes into contact with water...... There is a communal crowdish-type scene planned, all welcome, be at winter wonderland 1330hrs on saturday wearing red if possible? (n.b. the filming isn't actually at winter wonderland it's at the nearby memorial park.). attack+defend would LOVE IT if people were there.

2. 22 BAND JOB

a+d made a, how do you say, showoff, at a recent, how do you say, rumpus, in aid of 22 bands from the fair city of Caerdydd. As has been previously banged on about below a+d's song, 'lucky dawg'(r.i.p biff), was burnt aaan to the disc ----> it is available here and here. totally.

3. Dai-Oxide Carbon

a+d are riding their high horse in to the fair city of NEWPORT to promote a campaign to get people to send some words to MPs so that the MPs/PM get their shit together and impose proper restrictions of carbon dai-oxide emissions. Seriously look it up it's important (pretty please).

1. RIP BIFF

a+d's dog has died. biff was a lone dog that turned up at a+d hq one winter day. After asking about a bit no home was found so biff lived out the rest of his days at HQ. Biff passed away in the early hours of saturday last and will be sorely missed. He will be remembered mainly for being a bit of a vibe-dialler really and having a cute red collar. RIP biff.

2. MIXTAPE:

a+d are to be featured on 2 forthcoming compilation CDs namechecked below:

~ 50 minutes: in aid of charity (torturecare recovery/aid) - 50 songs all 1 min (60 secs) long. attack+defend have made a song called diamond pig which is track , featuring MT on the drums?? recorded at the hexagon sometime in 2006. it is BBC 6 Album of the week and is OUT now (OCT 30). ~ bands: a cd brought to you by twisted by design. to feature the a+d groove, 'lucky dawg' which, from this moment forth, shall be dedicated to biff (RIP biff).

Hello one and all, I write this on the eve of attack+defend's potentially thrilling trip to aberystwyth/scotland ----->>> as you can probably tell, I'm a leeetle bit excited. Anyway here are some a+d newzbites.

a+d broke their non-ma$e cherries, so to speak, with two jigs in NEWPORT. look down for desciptions_L:

- 1. THE NEWPORT TRANSPORTER BRIDGE APPRECIATION BRIDGE:

before this day I had never really appreciated the transporter bridge in Newport as much as I should have. now I do. It is a beautious structure which begs to be climbed, although the writer of this text that you are reading now did not get a chance to because there was a queue. ps it looks especially good, like some ladies, at night.

2. MATTSTOCK FESTIVAL< LE PUB NEWPORT

this was some vibe organised by two cats called matt who had a birthday ON THE SAME FRICKIN DAY and what more they WERE BOTH THIRTY. needless to say it was a happenin party, and when I say happenin I mean it not in the 60s way but in the 90s way AKA it was good. DO YOU KNOW WHAT MEAN???????????????

3. JT HAS MOVED TO NEWPORT;

as mentioned JT has moved to NEWPORT, this is a great coup/blunder* for newport which, until recently, contained no members of a+d.

*delete as appropriate.

4. The FRICKIN ALBUM:

a+d's album is currently being mastered by a man called gaz somewhere in Bristol. Picture a man in a room, buffing up a shiny thing to make it even more shiny, sometimes the man becomes distracted with other shiny things and then comes back to do some more buffing. The man wants the shiny thing to be v. shiny as do the owners of the shiny thing. Sometimes men with shiny things have to buff for a long time to get them as shiny as they want. note to mark - mastering does not involve the buffing of CDs.

5. TOUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

in true a+d fashion the members of a+d have cobbled together a few gigs in a row and are calling it a tour. what it actually is, lets face it, is a holiday to ABERYSTWYTH/SCOTLAND. certain members of the band are enjoying the prospect of not being an OFFICE TOAD for a few consecutive daze.................. hello. well this month has been a month. my highlight was a+d's gig at big love festival, it was such a highlight in fact that in comparison the rest of the month was a relative lowdarklight. Oh, apart from a+d went round to frank's for a final mixing session. Word is that the album is to be mastered by GAZ WILLIAMS of RGS fame/infamy, the praacess will involve a+d going on a lovely day out in bristol where I, personally, plan to visit clifton suspension bridge and rami/blole. Come to think of this month wasn't such a tirade of complete lowdarklights as I initially thought because some other stuff also happened.

attack+defend will be displaying their love for the NEWPORT TRANSPORTER BRIDGE, on the 17th of MEDI, AT the CROWPOINT festival in NEWPORT. In terms of things that I am game for; playing a gig in general appreciation of a bridge probably rates at about 10.1 out of 10.2. anyway check this out if you will --------> www.crowpoint.co.uk. In addition to this the entrance fee weighs in at a princely 0 pounds aka ZERO. I urge you to come, especially if you haven't even seen THE NEWPORT TRANSPORTER BRIDGE. It is good.

AS AN ASIDE:

There is a compilation disc, currently being compiled that will feature many cardiff bands, amoungst them will be attack+defend. It is hereby announced that the a+d song ^^lucky-dawg^^ will be featured on this CD. The members of a+d have had an actual fight over which song to include --> *************text deleted************. OK, the song will NAT feature on the forthcoming a+d album, the name of which is up in the air because a long/short distance phone/manual fight between the members of a+d is currently in progress, end of sentence. yeah, the names being bandied about are 'the south pole' and 'shape shaped' a conclusion will be reached v. shortly ---> my general point is that it will be a bit ****exclusive**** and that, the song on the compilation CD that is where am I?. annnnnnnnnnnyway if you are still reading this paragraph and want to know more I suggest you talk to gary twisted or little my. It has been a newz packed few weeks for a+d ---> aka lots of things have happened. First off the defend have completed the recording of their debut album (working title of 'the south pole') at Frank Naughton's studios in G-TOWN. They are as chuffed as a wild horse in the night with the songs so far. The album is in the praaaacess of being mixed by mr naughton. I might well put the track listing up here in a bit if I feel like it.

In other newz, mase, the inspirational guitarist and bassist, has left his spiritual homeland (cymru) and intends to continue flying the flag from his base somewhere in ingerland. People have been asking... will the forthcoming gig at the windmill be Ma$e's last ever?????? Well I don't know about that, but if you want to witness some raw emotions from the cloven-hooved bearded shamen then it is strongly suggested that you pile down to the afforementioned a+d gig, see below.

Just been round his house/studio he is redecorating it ESPECIALLY* for attack+defend. I am as excited as a young puppy that is excited. Frank lent a+d his sharma 3000, for those of you who don? know this is a kind of rotating pairof speakers in a box. JT has been enjoying himself trying to keep up with the speakers as they rotate (at 2000rpm)

a+d).
It was a rather suspect package with EEL SAMOTH (name changed for legal

scribbled on it. Eel opened it
and it was the cowbell he had ordered off the internet. He was hoping for a
nice cowbell to use in one of our songs. What he got was a tradional cow
bell, much like
the one pictured here. :

He was livid. It cost him bucks.

We have all been to a lot of gigs recently. Most noteably a band called HOLY
FU_K (i'm sorry mum, but
that was their name- what am I meant to do?! Lying is wrong but so is
swearing- ARGH this
situation in UNBEARABLE right now- but i bought it on myself by mentioning
it so i must continue.)
in the barfly on tuesday. They were superb. JT and ma$e were also there and
agreed... but were not quite so excited.
I even paid for their album. It was on the shelf for £10 but i got it for
£8.23 after some serious dedication and horseplay.

We are all off to Radnorshire this weekend for an all night rave up. We are
playing our new songs, there are several.

EEL will be bringing his cow bell just in case.

1. Kruger launch: a+d did a surprise show daan at buffalo (cardiff) to commemerate the launch of kruger X.... it was totally immense aside from the fact that JT locked the keys in the van......doooooshe
2. a+d: played at clwb with da hot puppies and dierty perfect.Mark and JT had a leetle bit of fun, I went went home early a lot like a baby would, be-coz i am meant to be recovering from surgery, and I don't like people.
3. next up bristol, JUKE2000, was a vibey little gig, mase was re-united with his childhood hero dan de-wolf. More importantly some bloke on the internet has since deemed the keyboardist (me) to be 'OK'.
4. THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF LONDON. after a lot of U turns and 0 turns the defend piled into the buffalo bar and played a tidy little gig for attack!attack!. isn't it.

did anyone listen to our session or?? NO NOT FRIDAY NIGHTS POST GIG
SESSION, despite that being a noisy, noteworthy one. Big up banko, gaz+dave phaelon, tourlord taylor,
mikey krug and ellie and everyone else. The one last night i mean, it was on the bbc radio wales.
It was for ad the man walton but last night it was presented by the one and only bethan elfyn.
I was informed I would be interviewed LIVE on air at 23.30. HOWEVER it turned out to be at 12.43. The
rest of the band had gone to bed by then (well it was band practise night so they were all shattered, PU55IES)
SO i was left to deal with the questions on my own. I had written out some notes of interesting things
to say, such as "we had our first lamb on the farm today" and "we just got back from practise". BUT i lost them and had to 'freestyle' it which resulted in the near constant use of familiar household phrases such as "errrrrrrrrr"
and "ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm".

3. Our good friends the Black Hand Laser Band (BHLB) are playing their 1st gig in Dempsys this evening (aka now probably) come and watch history being made.

Club NME was like frickin dreamy (aka beyond our wildest dreams in terms of goodness) There was 36 bijillioncrillion screaaaaaaammmmming people there (lee counted). It was more fun than rolling about on a heap of dafodil petals in a comfortably warm room:

Unnnnnnfortuntely a clerical and administrative error has come along and spoiled our back-patting partay - the owl ep has been delayed (i.e. due to a wharehouse mishap our ep will not now be out until March, sob, 20 at the earliest). On the plus side it's closer to March 13th, which is international ma$e day of course. Apologies to everyone that's been to a shop to get try and get it. Ah well.

wiinnd it up, in case you weren't aware a+d are playin a potentially fantabulous gig down in LONDON tomorrow. In club Koko, Camden. If you believe rumours on the forum we're on at 2300hrs. I'm as excited as a cat that is locked in a house and really needs to go outside for some air..

It's been an eventful week for a+d; played the Black in Aberdare, I was expecting, you know, a kind of log fire/old man playing accordian in the corner type of vibe, but no, it's a full on entertainment multiplex with a good dj to boot. I especially loved the way, to get to the dunnies, the folk had to essentially pile through the frickin MIDDLE* of the stage- and the locals unna shy - it made for literally riotous scenes. Next up was a gig in cardiff SU taf organised by xpress radio (www.xpressradio.co.uk) it was an acoustic gig (well an acoustic guitar was involved any road). It was well past fun. Mark, in an attempt to woo the crowd, renamed don't play with gypsies in the wood.. don't play with the students in in the union,.. worth writing up on the website i thought?

First things first big up to everyone who piled daan to clwb on t'friday, it was well vibey. A special thanks goes out to Ram for his 'amazin' compare skills and for donning that owl kit. Next up on the a+d horizon is a scrumptious little jig in aberdare in the black lion featuring the total geezars we are trees isn't it. Right where was I, ah yes then after that I think there is another gig in cardiff, an a-queue-stick bash in the taf ' if i'm naaat mistaken. There is rumoured to be some kind of vibe goin off at Horward's Gardens at some point to boot. Last and not not most is a+d's first foray to the bright lights of landan town 'n stuff, it's club nme in koko on the 24th FEB - i suggest that you write it on your face so that you don't forget - I have. below (in the previous news item) is some text about a ep party that we are throwing in clwb. a nice man made a nice poster to advertise said gig, here it is ^^

we are going to be giving out a large number of 'hard copies' of this flyer on the streets because boobytrap have printed out about twenty gizillion of them and we don't want to waste them becuase we care about the earth and trees and sh*t. SO if you see any of us giving them out please be receptive and don't tell us to 'go away and stick your flyers where the sun dont shi**e." This happened to bunter last night with some cool lookin band types...but with a bit o charm he got them to take the flyers. Only to see them drop them on the ground seconds later. He was too down beat about the situation because they did read it.

attack+defend HAVE GOT AN owl e.p launch partay in clwb ifor bach friday 10th feb. the band normally have really fun parties, they had one the other day at the hexagon (the band's HQ).
